Oh mom! I want this doll
Lucy heard her 4-year call
Turning around she saw her face
Looking at her full of grace
She wanted to tug her away
Regretting she took this way
Knowing the price was beyond reach
She started with her little speech
She had taught her child well
All manners one could tell
Oh mother she heard her say
I don't need a doll to play
That night she couldn't sleep
The innocence haunting her deep
Then she pulled out all she had
Found a needle and some rag
All night long she stayed awake
Ready to put in whatever it take
By the dawn she was almost done
As she felt the first ray of sun
She held it out to her only child
Wishing that it would make her smile
Tears rolled down Lucy's cheeks
As she heard her daughter speak
Mom this is the best doll ever!!!
I will keep it with me forever!!!
She wiped those tears as if they were dew
As she whispered to her mom I LOVE YOU!!!
